>cleaning up garbage at the bus stop again >woman standing next to seat with coffee cup on it >ask if it's hers >"no"
I understand that concern--but nobody has the right to leave food/drink in a public park and expect to return to it later...

...and in this case, a simple pick-up check would have confirmed the cup was empty.
-
I only asked first out of courtesy, because there WAS someone standing right there--if it was unattended I would have tossed it immediately.

Oh, of course, logically that makes sense. I think it's more of a subconscious fear. In that lady's case, she couldn't sit because of fear.
-
Clearly she wasn't just selfish or lazy, she had to work harder *not* to trash that stuff. If she wasn't scared self interest would make her

-
Not arguing that you're right, but fear is more sympathetic than pure apathy. Especially for women I think.
-
and the outcome is identical: a park strewn with garbage and full of people watching curiously as I pick some of it up
-
To be a bit hyperbolic, the outcome is the same if a gun accidentally fires into someone at a range and if a psycho shoots someone for fun.
