@380kmh what are your thoughts on future high-speed rail to Springfield? East of Worcester it would have to be either local-only because of track geometry+the density of stops OR dispatchers would have to cut local service to make space for the high-speed service

There's no high-speed rail to Springfield currently proposed or in development. Discussions of east-west rail are ongoing but will be at normal speeds (under 125mph). They might not manage it, but it's certainly possible to add this extension w/o cutting existing service.
