I will take the real earth over a mock-earth in a tin can far from the sun's light
-
I dont think that its fair to compare the colonies to deep nature. Its more like colonies vs suburbs & cities
-
one nice thing about suburbs and cities on earth is that deep nature is nearby
-
same with an orbital colony. 2 hour trip just like with a major metropolitan center
-
ohh you're talking about orbital colonies, I was talking about space exploration (moons, planets, etc)
-
also >two hours away from nature sounds like a lousy city!
-
I mean like fully immersed in nature. Side benefit is that is 2 hours to any location on earth from 1 point.
-
I meant fully immersed in nature too my dude

The technology that makes it viable has been around since the 80s. Its entirely a funding problem (like your train infrastructure)
-
lolll the train problem in the USA is not a funding problem fam
-
I'm always curious as to what you truly ascribe the real lack of trains to but funding is pretty evidently a large issue
-
to say trains have a funding problem in the USA is like saying a square-wheeled car has a fuel economy problem
-
I would say 'train infrastructure' but yes there are larger systemic yankee problems with that mode of transport
-
damn you cars... damn you
