Well I intimated incorrectly. I meant concept cities that incorporate rooftop gardens. Green space is important
parks are important, gardens are important, "green space" is poison for cities and should be avoided: http://newworldeconomics.com/place-and-non-place/ …
I didn't mean a blank field
I know--I assumed you meant parks, gardens, farms, etc. Which are good! But I have a vendetta against the misleading term "green space"
Because soooo many urban design projects in the USA these days tout "green space" when they mean "a blank field" or something close to it.
The very definition of a city is that it's a place where space is at a premium--none of it can go to waste!
Forcing space into cities, spreading them out, makes them more destructive to the environment & more awkward for their residents to live in
Some cities naturally spread out due to free population movement. Especially in England, people urbanism and then drifted out over centuries
