A tourist economy is a supply economy and a damn useful one too
...that emerged from other supply economies (salt, lumber, furs, etc...) So maybe this is just theory trumping real life, idk

The problem with tourist cities is that they tend to only grow on the tourism and dont try any other economies

that's the problem with most supply economies, they never think to diversify until too late

Problem is tourism can overwhelm infrastructure even if other economies do well. E.g. Barcelona. Berlin on lesser scale.
