...and resulting in many smaller buildings. But we tend to go for "a few big things" vs "many small things"

This shows up in business culture as a fixation on efficiency--which prioritizes doing existing kinds of work faster vs inventing new kinds

And in government, it shows up in centralization at the expense of state autonomy--and THAT is ultimately going to prove unbearable...
