The "buses must stop and open their door at all railroad crossings" policy in the USA is completely insane
If the line is so rarely used that it's not worth it to install crossing bells, then it's not worth it to stop every time

Talking about the exempt status that some crossings can be marked as on underutilized lines. I suspect it's busier than you know.
