Everything in Manhattan was booked. Ditto for the other boroughs. I ended up having to get a train halfway across New Jersey...

...the motel was about a 45 minute walk from the station, except the road was a highway with no sidewalk or crossing points...

...so I had to get Uber. All told: $25 for transportation and $65 per night, an hour and change away from downtown.
