Decided to take Amtrak to Boston this evening. Terrible mistake already--my train is currently 3.5 hours late.

Trains in Japan are notoriously punctual; delays are measured in seconds. In all my travel in Japan I've only been on a late train once...
-
...it was 10 minutes late from where I was catching it, due to *landslides* which had disrupted the track.
-
It made up all 10 minutes by the time it arrived in Osaka, and I was able to make my transfer without incident.
-
So in Japan, natural disasters cause a 10-minute delay. In the USA you can get a 4 hour delay with *nothing wrong.*
-
By "nothing" I mean no tech or weather issues. What usually happens is freight companies make Amtrak wait without notice.
-
Update: the train still hasn't left Albany.

Have I mentioned yet that there are no refunds? smdh

Daily reminder that Amtrak must be abolished, or at least expelled from New England. Only I can fix!
