Because this is the USA, there is only one train *per day* from Springfield to Boston. If it's late, too bad!

You can track Amtrak trains online here: http://www.asm.transitdocs.com/ My train is currently sitting in Albany, traveling at zero mph.
-
Wow I can watch it get later in real time. It's gone from 3.5 hours late to 3.75 hours late.
-
It still hasn't left Albany, of course. It was supposed to get to Springfield at 5:30.
-
I am 100% staying late at the office and doing extra work, btw, if I'm gonna be kept waiting I'll at least get paid for it.
-
Trains in Japan are notoriously punctual; delays are measured in seconds. In all my travel in Japan I've only been on a late train once...
-
...it was 10 minutes late from where I was catching it, due to *landslides* which had disrupted the track.
-
It made up all 10 minutes by the time it arrived in Osaka, and I was able to make my transfer without incident.
-
So in Japan, natural disasters cause a 10-minute delay. In the USA you can get a 4 hour delay with *nothing wrong.*
-
By "nothing" I mean no tech or weather issues. What usually happens is freight companies make Amtrak wait without notice.
-
Update: the train still hasn't left Albany.
-
Have I mentioned yet that there are no refunds? smdh
-
Daily reminder that Amtrak must be abolished, or at least expelled from New England. Only I can fix!

If you really want to wait try taking the train frion DC to Pittsburgh.
-
Haven't tried that one before...I've done the one from Philly to Pittsburgh tho, took forever but at least was on time.
-
I used to take the train from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg; not terrible.
