Frequency = vehicular throughput = cars (or buses, etc) per hour. 2,000 cars per hour could be 2,000 people or 10,000 people.

I think it depends where you live too, and what you generally do. I know lots of people that have no desire to even own a car.

you don't need trains in the boonies bc you don't get the sort of hyper-commerce which necessitates them; cars cover most needs
