This is nuts--would they prefer those homeless camp somewhere that they're NOT welcome? It's not as if the city would be free of homeless people if they succeed in stopping this one guy from hostinghttps://twitter.com/schmangee/status/1052552712720670721 …

Man this is an interesting land use case. At the polar opposite of NIMBYs is this guy in Akron who is allowing homeless people to permanently camp on his property. Of course they're going to try to use zoning to stop him tho. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/16/us/akron-homeless-tent-city.html …

There's always SOME town that ends up being the most generous supporter--my point is there are no permanent solutions for homelessness on the table, and shuffling them around is just asinine

Not true (we already try this), you need severe penalties for it if you want deterrence. How many immigrants has NIMBYism stopped, exactly? As far as I can tell it just means abandoning entire neighborhoods and building new ones, not turning anybody back

good question, does Texas have lots of illegal immigrants or not? California has more than Texas--but Arizona and Nevada both have more than New Mexicopic.twitter.com/1jyA1df0Jo

idk about *much* lower, but it would probably be lower--what's the deal with Nevada and Arizona vs New Mexico, tho? it's not as if they're closer to the border

I think it suggests that sticks play a much bigger role than carrots (or at least, than additional carrots--the main incentive to come to USA is to be in USA)
