why can’t we have space exploration AND excellent transit smh
there's no particular reason we can't--but I know which one would concretely improve my life...

Apparently I agreed with you in 2017 lol https://twitter.com/_tamarawinter/status/860169281660694530?s=21 … but that’s so zero-sum. NASA’s budget is minuscule and not why we can’t figure out transit
Tamara Winter added,
space exploration is one thing--space habitation is quite another
Rare metals and elements may be worthwhile for planet habitation/mining. A lot of next gen tech like nuclear fusion is suboptimal due to lack of resources on Earth.
why not just have robots do that tho
Even if you had robots you’d need people to maintain the robots. That kind of work couldn’t wait months for a repair mission.
wouldn't that be a useful application for AI tho
True. But I still don’t see, at least initially, leaving billions of dollars of equipment that would power trillions of dollars of GDP up to a super smart robot millions of miles away.
how much more difficult and expensive would it be to leave that equipment in human hands?
