Robots being able to do what a human does and having the same flexibility /initiative is pure science fiction
-
so is space colonization
-
We have had a continuous presence in space for almost 18 years now on the ISS. A lunar or Martian colony is only a matter of resources, not tech.
-
we've had a continuous presence on Antarctica for longer but Villa Las Estrellas isn't exactly a popular place to live
-
There is no actual worthwhile reason to live there other than research, which is still debated in the case of space.
-
lmao you've like halfway got it
-
I think rare mineral element is absolutely worth it. Otherwise yes: the cost serves humanity better on Earth infrastructure.

Even if you had robots you’d need people to maintain the robots. That kind of work couldn’t wait months for a repair mission.
-
wouldn't that be a useful application for AI tho
-
True. But I still don’t see, at least initially, leaving billions of dollars of equipment that would power trillions of dollars of GDP up to a super smart robot millions of miles away.
-
how much more difficult and expensive would it be to leave that equipment in human hands?
