Halfway across the crosswalk and traffic on the far side--despite being gridlocked and moving at 2 mph--still wouldn't stop to let me thru, only stopping when traffic finally halted entirely (blocking the crosswalk ofc). See why I jaywalk?

There is one advantage to having so much traffic behaving so obnoxiously--it made the bus I was trying to catch late, so I was able to get to it despite the burrito taking more than 5 minutes to be ready

Can I get burrito in 5 min: no Will I make the bus anyway: ye

There's a fence there, but it's really more inconveniencing than blocking the route from store to bike path. (I wonder if bikes should have proper handles to make that sort of maneuver easier)
-
You're not seeing how far it extends to the right--no gap for another 200'
-
My point is, it's pretty short so you could just huck your bike over it.

It's about 4.5 feet high, maybe 5
-
Huh, it looks waist-high in the photos. Maybe elbow high at the most. 5 ft is probably a bit much.
-
That might be bc of the perspective; I was standing on a stone wall to take pic
