Narita Express takes a less direct route, so it takes longer to get to the airport--around 50 minutes, instead of 35. On the other hand, Skyliner doesn't connect directly to Tokyo Station and the Shinkansen terminals therepic.twitter.com/fvADVO5mVq
The cost of a reserved seat on the Skyliner for 38 miles? 2,470 yen = $21.60 If you take a slower train w/o a seat reservation, it's half the cost!

yes, it used to take a slower route via Sakura and Funabashi--then a few years ago, a bypass route via Inzai opened, cutting out a lot of the distance
