Look at Turkey, look at EU, look at China. I wish people would use trains more, the independence of the car has created standard of freedom.

While I'm skeptical of China's statistics, their high-speed lines are turning a profit, and their railways in general are *certainly* heavily used. EU trains vary by country but are extremely well-used. Idk about Turkey--how about you look at Switzerland tho

, majority of rail systems are costly failures that people don't care about. -
Outside Japan they don't make money as often (for a variety of reasons), but would be hard-pressed to call them failures, and it's nonsense to say people don't care about them. Think about Uber--loses a fuckton of money every quarter but it's hardly a failure & ppl love it
