The Uber driver I had this afternoon to get back from my morning meeting was telling me all kinds of war stories from driving in Springfield, esp since the casino opened. Apparently teenagers love sneaking in (or get waved in by a security guard they're friends with)

She told me that on three separate occasions she had to drive people directly from the casino to the police station, and on one occasion directly to the hospital for apparent alcohol poisoning.

She also apparently gets people who abuse the "three stops" rule (uber lets passengers request up to three stops, 5 minutes each, during their trips w/o a surcharge) to pick up and sell drugs

If the police catch an uber passenger doing this, they take for granted that the driver is in on it too, and so she ended up arrested one night after picking up the wrong person. Three hours of explaining later, she was released and heavily reimbursed by uber for the hassle.

She also explained to me that passengers have an "emergency button" which will ping the cops to your current location. When I asked if this was bc of drivers being creeps/pervs, she said "no it's because a lot of drivers will hit the casino until late, then drive drunk after"

I've never encountered an uber driver who appeared to be drunk or on any other drugs, but I'm also never hailing them after midnight in Springfield. Must be different.
