"It doesn't make sense to build a Red-Blue connection because only 3% of trips in one direction on the Red Line originated on the Blue Line" You don't think that might have something to do with there NOT BEING A DIRECT CONNECTION?
Never mind that he only looked in one direction--if a Red-Blue connection were built, I guarantee you people going from the Blue Line towards Quincy would transfer at Charles instead of transferring twice via the Orange Line, and that's not even mentioning Red to Blue transfers!
Also huge lol @ saying a 4 minute savings in travel time wouldn't be appreciated, as if it's *only* the time that's the issue, and not the fact that you'd only need to make one connection (ergo only ONE time spent waiting on a platform for the next train instead of TWO)
"It would only save four minutes...provided all trains are running at peak frequency and there are no schedule interruptions" you went with the MINIMUM POSSIBLE travel time savings, assuming the BEST circumstances, and you're gonna use that to block a project? get a new job bro
your job is to make LONG RANGE PLANS; as a matter of course you should be assuming that present trends and numbers are not set in stone, and that it is part of your job to influence them!
There are altogether too many people employed in the transit industry who don't seem to think they should be trying to get more riders and more mode share. Imagine employing a manager at your company who doesn't try to get more sales--just fucking lol, fire him immediately
