I've said before--the whole point of promoting walking and biking, in my mind, had been that those modes *do not require their own dedicated infrastructure* as bike paths turn more and more into highways-in-miniature, this appeal disappears

Aside from major arterials, your streets don't need to be very wide--the wider they are, the more spread out things necessarily become, and the less practical it is to walk or bike *even with sidewalks and bike lanes.* If your plan for bike/ped infra means widening every road...

Biking creates a different esthetic; you can hear and see people rather than machines & people are encased and controlling gas powered metal boxes but in fresh air and more aware of their surroundings

I mean...compared to driving, yes. But it doesn't need this whole mini-highway thing to accomplish that
