I know New York has metro police, but i don’t think the officers actually ride the trains right?

had to deal w folks like this in nyc & theres literally nothing you can do but just stand there bc you’ll probably catch a charge for getting involved, or at least be involved in a case if it gets called in

and it only worsens travel time—whenever theres conflict & the conductor is notified, train stops at the next station until authorities (or paramedics if needed) arrive. was stuck at an F stop for maybe 30-40 minutes (train had been stopped before i got on) bc of this

Consequence of enforcers not being present on scene...to say nothing of screening at the fare gates and documenting/banning repeat offenders

So your prescription would be enforcement/security on trains and better screening?

Seems possible, I’m sure the city would not be keen on coughing up the extra funding though

Not the city's job but the operator's. Think of how banks or grocery stores avoid this kind of shit

Didn’t know the metro was a private entity. Yeah they could easily establish and enforce some better conduct codes
