It is increasingly typical of American neighborhoods where gentrification is pushing out long-term working and middle-class residents in favor of rich young people and foreign investors, yes. Is this a serious comment?

Who do you think owned all those old buildings that are being renovated and sold off as condos? People who bought them in the 60s and 70s and raised their families in them, because single-income families could actually afford homes once upon a time.

I would hate to buy something and have it appreciate to 100x my initial investment

You might, if your entire family was around you, everyone spoke your language, the local shops had food from your home country, and suddenly a bunch of bougie young people are telling you that you need to leave because they want your stuff.
-
>doesnt want to pay even slightly higher taxes >wants to preserve the local culture by excluding outsiders Just become a republican then
-
So you're in favor of gentrification. Roger that.
