Right!! I even feel kind of uncomfortable asking my friends because I don't want them to feel like they're my "token minority friends"
-
Bingo--and this professor's mentality, however well-intended, treats POC as tokens and is asking you to collect 3
-
I’m also guessing the prof is White?
-
Correct, although these hw assignments are standardized across all of the course sections, I believe

like why not talk to someone well-known to you? just because you're friends with them doesn't mean you've had a long chat about race relations with them. as for hitting up a stranger about it--man, I wouldn't want to do that to a white person either, that's just antisocial
-
That's what I said last night! Even if you're white talking to one of your white friends about race relations, that's probably just as productive--because probably most white people haven't done that, due to already being in the in-group
