i dont think this is that big a deal tbh, but do you remember that makeup advertising campaign a few years ago that exploited the idea that men are offended by women putting on makeup in public and encouraged them to do it as a revolutionary act, and also to buy their dumb shit?
lmfao sounds about right
but honestly as long as you don't take up extra space or leave a mess i don't see what the big deal is. sometimes you gotta multitask
also--at least on a very busy train/bus--it is very spatially disruptive: taking things out, putting them away, moving arms around etc; hard not to bump into people at that point
I see this as being a special case of "respect others personal space". But if the person applying makeup is respecting others personal space then there's no problem.
I’m good with a quick surreptitious nose powder or lipstick refresh in public. Doing your whole face is just uncouth.
Totally--the main objection is when people do something that's hard to ignore (eg making a big production of putting makeup on--it's almost as bad as listening to music w/o headphones)
also >quick surreptitious nose powder hell yeah
Why do you hate women?
Oh but men can spread their legs wide open on the fucking train and take up as much space as possible and fart it up? Ok.
No, that's even worse...why would I approve of such behavior
Fair. I should not have just assumed that it would be one or the other so that’s my bad. I’m glad you are on the same position.
Thanks--nice trains are very important, rude passengers detract from everyone's experience!
Please feel free to disembark from the train or bus if you happen to see a person applying their make up.
Why does it offend you? If the lady stays within her space then she's not bothering anyone. Just look away?
Well I see more men (and it’s ALWAYS MEN) picking their noses, AND eating it or rolling it and flicking it - prob about 3 x a week. Otherwise it’s the men sniffing constantly. So if you could send that memo out in your little manners hashtag that’d be great.
