I asked a man at the ticket window if they were going to restore the staircase--he snapped back "No idea. I have nothing to do with that."
He was leaning way back in his seat, hard to hear thru the glass pane, no trace of a smile, just a sort of angry contempt. Good thing he's working for a company that gives zero fucks about customer service!
I can understand being short-tempered if it's busy and someone is wasting your time, but there was only one other person in the waiting room and another ticket agent at the adjacent window. This guy was doing nothing and was STILL sour
Anyway. It's embarrassing for your employees to be utterly ignorant about their surroundings like this, but even if that's the case, there are friendlier ways to say "I'm sorry, I don't know"
Was that a TTC employee? When I lived there they were (with some exceptions) intolerably officious and unhelpful. You were lucky to get an "I don't know"; the usual response was to ignore you.
Or is this a different Union Station?
It's Amtrak (Springfield MA)
