"We need to distance ourselves from our namesake." "Oh, so...new name?" "No,"
Come on, then how would rich people know where to send their kids?
this is like those rich kids who get really into communism etc
It's fine if you're a rich kid into communism as long as you systematically divest yourself of your wealth, imo
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.
WOW, for forever I thought this meant the guy was sad bc he was like, "Oh well, I'm rich, guess I'll never get there" when really he was just sad because he didn't want to give up his $$$. This, uhhhh, makes a lot more sense now

Yeah, it’s like he wanted all these points for his good deeds—good deeds on his own terms, mind—and Jesus is like, Swell, now go the rest of the way, and he can’t.
Truthfully, I have a fair amount of sympathy for the guy because I have a deep suspicion that God wants more from me—not nec. money, but, you know, s/t else—than I want to give.
I have been feeling this way so much lately. "God, please show me what to do....but not right now, please."
"Grant me chastity and continence, but not yet..."
