More details on these trains? How much of a premium are these over "normal" accommodations? Is this the norm?
- depends on the train - most in this thread cost the same as any other express train, which is usually double the cost of the equivalent local train - this sort of decoration isn't the norm, but can still be found all over the country
Crazy. These would be destroyed anywhere in America. So much wood and delicate fabric. We can't even keep stainless steel and industrial grade vinyl nice. Just another perk of our multicultural dystopia.
A lot of the wood is fake (a lot is also real, so...); the fabric parts (at least on the seats) can generally be removed and cleaned separately as necessary
The point still stands, though. These are beautiful cars and would never survive America.
I don't know if they still run, but these bar cars used to be on Amtrak in the PacNWpic.twitter.com/AmroWug0Mj
Yea the Coast Starlight is one of the nicest lines in the country, and I don't think they're running the fancy cars anymore.
I rode the Coast Starlight--this car was never part of that one, it was only on the Cascades (it's a Talgo)
My fault, I was thinking of the Pacific Parlor car.pic.twitter.com/vVivodbZQ7
word--this is what they had instead when I rodepic.twitter.com/XEIU23JljQ
