Cyclists are as oppressed as troopshttps://twitter.com/eillieanzi/status/1030488696846516225 …
helmet is very poor insurance when you get hit by a careless driver--and I notice it's generally drivers pushing for helmets (to clear their consciences? lol)

Of course a helmet won’t protect you from a car. A helmet mainly protects you from yourself, when you hit a curb wrong or something and get launches over the handlebars. Happened to my dad’s friend, was in concussion protocol for like a month
-
right, but it's not self-inflicted accidents which make biking in NYC dangerous, which was what OP was posting about--a helmet is no substitute for a protected bike lane, etc
-
I think there’s a cultural difference here. I’m from Seattle, where the bike lanes are huge and the cyclists are egomaniacal assholes
-
I wonder about the per-rider fatality rates there vs NYC, though As for being egomaniacal assholes--it's unfortunate and harms their cause, but given that the bulk of car drivers are the same way, it might just be the most common sort of person regardless of transport mode
-
Alex pls make a people mover System for nyc
-
it has one, what it needs is a top-to-bottom overhaul
-
Yes! Make you transit chief!
