Yes, you should, because some trips make more sense by transit and some make more sense by car--you want the best of both worlds.

Nothing. It’s just not what I want. I go from city to city across the region, and then I need to be able to go from place to far place inside the city or the next town over.

Curious but I won't pry; in any case, the way you're hoping to use trains isn't an option anywhere in the world yet, I'm afraid to say. Maybe it will be someday, I don't see anything technically impossible about it.

I remember as a kid Amtrak taking cars from NY/NJ to Florida for vacation. It was insanely expensive.

Amtrak still offers that service--but it's not exactly doing 200mph...
