Moron thinks the country which produces Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, etc etc, isn't a driving nation. In Japan people can drive and take the train! It's Americans who are denied the freedom to have a choice--so denied that many think it's impossible to change!https://twitter.com/vee2easy/status/1031213976066162689 …
Most people who use MTA also own cars, and for the record, the guy I'm arguing with upthread lives in NYC. Too many people think you can *either* own a car *or* walk and take transit, without realizing the two are not exclusive

I mean, sure you 'can'- but does that mean you should? You're increasing expenses such as insurance, gas, car payments, maintenance, etc. while still paying increasing public transit fares. You're also contributing to the traffic issue.
-
Yes, you should, because some trips make more sense by transit and some make more sense by car--you want the best of both worlds.
-
I want to be able to drive my car quickly and easily onto the train, haul us 400 miles in two hours, then drop me off.
-
I assume you feel the same way about airplanes
-
No. I want airplanes to fly me 3-4x as fast and I’ll Uber when I get there.
-
What's wrong with ubering when you get off the train?
-
Nothing. It’s just not what I want. I go from city to city across the region, and then I need to be able to go from place to far place inside the city or the next town over.
-
That's what rentals are for
