"Keep fighting the good fight man but you’ll get nowhere." These are words of a broken man, all his hope for improvement and real change CRUSHED, and this sort of man is everywhere in America today. I can see how people get to this state--but I cannot relate! I will never stop

Americans are just very stubborn. The Japanese Americanized after WWII, but I find it hard to believe un-urbanized Americans would easily adopt new transit mindsets
-
and what about urbanized Americans, of which we have tens of millions?
-
I'm pretty sure that most residents of places like NYC don't own cars already and use the MTA or walk everywhere; or Uber depending
-
Most people who use MTA also own cars, and for the record, the guy I'm arguing with upthread lives in NYC. Too many people think you can *either* own a car *or* walk and take transit, without realizing the two are not exclusive
-
I mean, sure you 'can'- but does that mean you should? You're increasing expenses such as insurance, gas, car payments, maintenance, etc. while still paying increasing public transit fares. You're also contributing to the traffic issue.
-
Yes, you should, because some trips make more sense by transit and some make more sense by car--you want the best of both worlds.
-
I want to be able to drive my car quickly and easily onto the train, haul us 400 miles in two hours, then drop me off.
-
I assume you feel the same way about airplanes

It's just more common for people to use the subway and public transit in the urban areas from my understanding
-
Yes, there has to actually be a subway or public transit if people are to use it
