How fucked is transit in USA? Even if you go to the trouble of voting in a new tax that's dedicated to transit improvement, all it takes is one politician deciding that he'd rather spend that new revenue elsewhere:https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/article216580535.html …

"I'd like to buy some apples" "Oh...people here don't like apples" "Well how can they, you barely have any in stock" "Oh...well, we can get more but you have to pay up" "Fine, I'll pay extra" "Thanks! Here are your oranges" "..."

All that talk about freedom and about what Americans like etc etc is horseshit--politicians are *actively thwarting* the popular will, squandering and stealing taxpayer money, just for the sake of keeping transit shitty

Someone in Miami: please tie Gimenez to the front of the next freight train heading out of town, and don't let him back in

Replying to @380kmh
Do you suppose that the oil industry and auto/trucking industries are paying off politicians? Seems likely, so nothing will change until this is exposed and stopped. Not an easy fix.

no, there's nothing to suggest a payoff here, the money was diverted to fill a funding gap resulting from a property tax crash, and then the next guy (Gimenez) cut property taxes, ensuring that the transit money would never go to its intended purpose
