That the onset of the car needn't extinguish alternatives, that cars don't need to ruin cities and city life to become a part of them, etc

So many things seem hopeless or like they can only work out one way if the only examples considered are Western...it's the mistake of thinking cars HAVE to impact society in one particular way bc that's how it happened in USA and most of its dependencies
