Babylon/Montauk trains don’t stop there. Change at Jamaica!

right but surely you could change at Hicksville for Babylon, then change at Babylon for Montauk, no? I'd have assumed that would take less time than going all the way in then all the way out again, but it depends on frequency...

As I said, Babylon/Montauk trains don’t stop there! Check the timetables. Just how LIRR rolls.

The Babylon trains don’t run Hicksville.

Right i know, Hicksville isn't on Babylon branch, it's on the Port Jeff and Ronkonkoma branches--but the latter has a spur on the map, connecting to Babylon from Hicksville, and *at Babylon* you can (I assume) get a different train to Montauk

That spur (the Central Branch) is almost all Jamaica-(express)-Babylon-(local)-Montauk trains not stopping at Hicksville. Yes, it’s hard to believe how stupid all of this is.
