This isn't to say that no crosswalks will be built *at all,* as the plan so far DOES call for more than currently exist (a pretty easy bar to clear). But they will still be VERY spread out--God help you if you came here by bus and need to catch it across the street to go home!

Fortunately the plans aren't finalized yet, and there's still strong odds that additional crosswalks can be added at a few key intersections. But then I look at some of the EXISTING crosswalks...you see it in the middle of this pic...pic.twitter.com/SxN2h0REy9

This place is just inescapably miserable to walk around in--bike lanes and sidewalks will not do much to change that. It'll still be a sea of asphalt, deafeningly noisy, with cars darting in and out of the road from any of the countless parking lots that surround it...

Sometimes I feel like Americans are disappointed that the invention of the car wasn't able to completely eliminate the need to walk--even if it was able to, for most people, pare it down to just two domains: inside buildings, and from the door to the parking lot.
