Tristan de Cunha, a tiny island in the South Atlantic with about 250 residents (all living in one village called "Edinburgh of the Seven Seas"), turns out to have public transit: a single bus route connecting the village to the main farmland/pasture area (about 2 miles away)

Adorable! The bus is intended for the elderly, and doesn't charge any fare Most of these pics are from http://www.tristandc.com/newstransport.php …pic.twitter.com/UPiEsHYqCc

I would love to visit, but the only way to do so is to get a boat from Cape Town, which takes 5~6 days and only departs a few times a year. They do not accept any new residents. Interesting, the first settlers were from Massachusetts--Salem, specifically!pic.twitter.com/O6xzNKfDQl

Replying to @idleb1rd
"near" isn't the word I'd use, but it might be the closest other British territory
