Multiple units are crap for long distance routes. Loco-hauled top and tail or push-pull sets offer the same advantages for far better passenger environment

Moreover, the Amfleets are predominantly used on (relatively) short intercity routes, especially the Northeast Corridor--the long-haul, transcontinental routes tend to use Superliners afaik
