@380kmh Do you know anything about China's high speed rail? Considering an eleven hour train from Shanghai to Kunming instead of flying, for comfort and scenery, if they are comfortable and the scenery is good!

I have no personal experience with them, but everything I've heard suggests that they are very comfortable (and for an 11 hour trip, offer good overnight accommodation)

Which is certainly unusual when one looks at how Europe's HSR has all but abolished overnight accommodation.

The overnight HSR trips in China are for journeys that would've taken multiple overnights on conventional trains--Shanghai to Kunming is about as far as Rennes to Vilnius
