Looking at how easy/hard it is to get to islands which don't have airports is a great way to see the importance of FREQUENCY in determining overall travel time & ease of travel: consider tiny Pitcairn Island in the South Pacific...

...this is where frequency becomes a big issue. That flight from Tahiti to Mangareva? It only happens once a week. That boat from Mangareva to Pitcairn? It only happens once every 3 months!! So depending when you show up at LAX, your trip to Pitcairn could take up to 2,374 hrs!

Faster travel times are only as good as the departure times they're offered for: the time spent waiting to be ABLE to travel must always be taken into account when discussing overall travel time
