For the final leg from Mangareva to Pitcairn, your only option is the boat--and you still have over 300 miles to cover, taking 32 hours to complete the journey. So we're at 8.5 + 5.5 + 32 = 46 hours total time in transit. Right? Well...

...this is where frequency becomes a big issue. That flight from Tahiti to Mangareva? It only happens once a week. That boat from Mangareva to Pitcairn? It only happens once every 3 months!! So depending when you show up at LAX, your trip to Pitcairn could take up to 2,374 hrs!
