Fed up with playing a rigged game, the head of Worcester RTA is calling it quits: http://www.telegram.com/news/20180621/jonathan-church-head-of-worcester-regional-transit-to-leave-agency … “You have to meet a budget each year ... but you have no idea what you’re going to get for money year after year. Who would want the job? It’s thankless.”

At the rate that the situation with the RTA's is going, MassDOT should just assume all responsibility under the umbrella of Rail and Transit and work with a group in each region to set the routes and reinvest the fares in service and operations.
-
The current vibe I get from the state is that they're trying to starve out RTAs entirely with the "cut service -> ridership drops -> revenue drops -> cut service again" death spiral
-
I have read some of the articles in the fall. I don't think the state is starving them. If there is anything, MassDOT should be working to help them actually integrate into the wider system. They're the feeders, particularly in Eastern MA. They're mismatched at present.
-
I think that instead of commuter rail we should have a Massachusetts wide authority (though private companies would be better) to focus on frequent service across the state.

What do u propose
-
not sure where to begin tbh--but thinking about it
-
Id begin with starting a propaganda fight w PP/Greyhound
-
Well perhaps not BEGIN begin, but I would start the mudslinging with aggressive advertisement. "These buses are TORTUROUS- both in terms of seat comfort, speed, and value for money-- Massachusetts Can Do Better! New England Rail Co. supports this message"

They also need to be integrated with land use planning.
