I argue not against such regulations *in principle,* but in excess! Japanese food safety regulations much more LAX than in USA, but the quality of food is immeasurably superior!

Certainly I have talked a lot about how much looser Japanese land use regulations are--and the tremendously beneficial effect this has on housing prices, startup businesses, and urban form!
