Surreal that @ColoradoDOT is really out here acting like pedestrians are as much to blame for getting hit by cars as the drivers of said cars are--I've had cars speed up for crosswalks so they can try to get through w/o waiting for me first, and that's just scratching the surface

Perhaps--for the sake of visibility, so they don't sneak up on pedestrians around corners etc--cars should have their headlights on 24/7. But, no, that's actually a bad strategy because it encourages pedestrians to be less attentive, and count on being alerted by bright lights...

...and for the same reason, encouraging pedestrians to always wear neon etc is tacitly encouraging drivers to use their eyes less and their reflexes more. Unwise! The price of operating a vehicle is CONSTANT VIGILANCE; only a reckless
@ColoradoDOT would try to shift this burdenShow this thread -
Basically--until
@ColoradoDOT can realize that I have almost as much to worry about from cars which DO notice me as I do from cars which DON'T, they will never really understand pedestrian safetyShow this thread

We’re very familiar with said. When walking about it regularly helps to avoid complying strictly with rules for safety. In particular crossing at undesignated spots can invoke more awareness in process of avoiding aforementioned mindless drivers. Intersections falsely comfort. :b

I like to interact with cars as though I am in Latin America Lurch randomly onto and off of the road and trust cars to maintain exact speed and direction as I step out to cross road so they miss me by no more than two inches

It is amusing to engage them like a predator. :D
