I like midsize cities, in many ways miss living in one, and think their economic revival will help the national housing crisis. I also think it's a moral necessity for public policy to make it possible for workers to go where they want and need. There is sometimes tension.

Because eventually talent can't afford to move there and things stagnate. Policy could prevent that of course but right now it's doing the opposite.

For some workers and some industries, being far enough, but not too far, from a global city could be a sweet spot.
