Statistics like this are always a bit misleading, since car use will vary enormously for individual people (depending on things like where they live, or how rich they are), but my basic point stands: good trains coexist with cars, rather than replacing them

Should look at breakdown of avg hours spent in a car. Car culture is about propping up petro industry so GITDs have plenty of money to throw around.

One reason Americans are sub-literate during adulthood. Hours per day where they need to direct active attention toward a street rather than reading a book to kill time on a train.
