Hmm, these infection numbers from HK make me suspicious that the numbers being reported from outside Hubei are still being undercounted or, more likely, underreported... Probably a bit of both... :-/
Obviously they don't test everyone with flu like symptoms for the coronavirus. That's impossible. So numbers are a lot higher. Some countries are testing flu patients for coronavirus, like The Netherlands & the U.S.

...but that is still only a small percentage of possible infected people getting tested. A lot of people won't even go to see a doctor, because the infection can be very mild or asymptomatic. So it will take a longer time before we can say if it's a pandemic or not.

That’s incorrect. The Netherlands only tests when you have fever AND either coughing or shortness of breath AND have been in china in the past 14 days or have been in contact with a confirmed case. Otherwise they don’t test, trust me, I’ve tried hard to get tested.
