And why would you even put a upper limit on password length? I see this stuff to often, there must be some "security" practice that some companies follow...

All password forms should implement resumable uploads for arbitrary password length. :p

Database schema, but more likely multiple steps removed from the original. Though it may also increase the probability of people using phrases, which are theoretically easier to guess *if* you know it's a phrase and not just six UUIDs back to back

Usually because of a DB column definition. ;)

No one stores passwords as a plain text. Length of hash is know value. Nothing to do here with a DB, just a front-end dev decided that 32 chars is enough.
