Good morning, it's the Daily Coup Thread 11/12/20 Based on this article I am sending my coup rating, which is an arbitrary number based on no stats whatsoever, plummeting down from 4/10 to 2/10https://www.axios.com/trump-fox-news-digital-media-competitor-25afddee-144d-4820-8ed4-9eb0ffa42420.html …

Laura Jedeed (Misanthrophile) @1misanthrophileAnother day, another coup thread (11/11/20) Not much action so far today, but here's something to kick things off: a NYT page dedicated to debunking election fraud rumors Sticking with 5/10 as my current arbitrary coup rating today https://www.nytimes.com/live/2020/11/11/technology/election-results-trump-biden …Show this thread2 replies 2 retweets 17 likesShow this thread -
A very interesting article. The Oklahoma senator doesn't entirely backpedal on the idea that Biden should receive state briefings, but makes it clear he holds the election results in doubthttps://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/nov/12/james-lankford-republican-senator-biden-intelligence-briefings …

Lankford's (and other Republicans') combination demands for a Biden transition with refusal to accept election results suggests 2 things, not mutually exclusive: *Knowledge that Biden will eventually be sworn in *Commitment to a stab-in-the-back narrative for 2022/2024 voters

Intetesting analysis of Trump's options If he delays counts past legal deadlines, legislators could appoint electors who could vote for Trump in the electoral college With Democratic governors in most of the "contested" states, this is unlikely to workhttps://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/nov/11/can-donald-trump-stay-in-office-second-term-president-coup …

Shit like this is why I'm not worried about a military coup--the military has loads of unsavory shit but the norm of not interfering in civilian matters is both strong and bone-deep If Trump were to use force, it would come from DHS/BORTAC/policehttps://apnews.com/article/military-wary-shakeup-upend-apolitical-89eccf0aef7cf7b99208b3bfd0453a43 …

Replying to @1misanthrophile
Wouldn't it be enough for the military not to interfere with Trump staying in power?

Absolutely. I worry about that More a week ago than now, but it's certainly still a concern I just assume the military is not a player at all in whatever comes next
