It should go without saying that everyone has to live somewhere. Forcing houseless people to move every few days and destroying the few possessions they own is not a solution. It's a way to sweep the problem under the rug so the community doesn't have to think about the problem

I just heard from
@45thabsurdist that police told people they won't be doing the sweep today I imagine they'll do it when they always do: when people aren't around to stop it2 replies 6 retweets 116 likesShow this thread -

I pass
@KGWNews interviewing a couple of the camp residents, which seems important. The two people being interviewed seem pleased with the efforts Most of the residents seem to be keeping to themselves this morning2 replies 0 retweets 72 likesShow this thread -
Just talked to a couple people from
@tents4homes manning a table with hot coffee, handwarmers, and pastries No one is quite sure who set up the table. These events are like that sometimes. People quietly doing nice things and vanishing without a tracepic.twitter.com/DRf56k29KP

@tents4homes also does awesome things: they provide tents, tarps, and sleeping bags to the houseless community. This is real important as we head into the cold and rainy winter They accept donations!1 reply 8 retweets 78 likesShow this thread -

Chants of "house keys not handcuffs!" led by a very small child Children don't really have the agency to hold political ideas they weren't fed and I'm always vaguely bothered by this sort of thing, but it's a good message

I wonder what the minimum age for that agency is. 10? 12?

I knew in kindergarten that it was wrong for my dad to call protesters names I can't repeat here. Childrens' idea of right and wrong is so much less complicated than the rationale of most adults.

I "knew" in kindergarten that Ronald Reagan was the greatest president of all time and that Earth Day was socialist bullshit, so maybe this is all just my baggage, but I really think it's healthier to say "Here's what we believe but you can decide for yourself when you're older"

Probably depends on the kid. I don't think any 5-year-old has the capacity to form their own opinions on the solution to houselessness though
