Biden accuses Trump of trying to cut medicare. "He tried to hurt Social Security years ago!" Trump....says? Whines? It's certainly a noise

Biden asked why he hasn't pushed the Democratic party to come to a deal Biden asserts that the Democrats have already passed the plan Typical gridlock stuff, each side blaming the other. It's weird when there are moments of normalcy in this bizarre farce we live in now

Trump accuses the Democratic bill of bailing out Democratic cities and states, and also opening the borders somehow Biden says he'll be a president for EVERYONE Trump looks about as irritated as I've ever seen him

Biden asked about the minimum wage He says we need to bail out small businesses now This doesn't have to be a non sequitur, but Biden needs to connect the dots (I mean, he doesn't have to, barring a stroke he's won this debate already)

Trump talks over the moderator to call Biden out on it. How does raising the minimum wage help small businesses? The moderator attempts several times to ask whether Trump would still consider raising the minimum wage to $15 and finally manages to ask it

Trump says he'd consider raising the minimum wage, but not to the extent that it would hurt small businesses Look the question is whether you'd raise it to 15, you do it or you don't Trump points out that the cost of living differs in different countries

Trump gets to talk about immigration. How do we reunite those 545 kids with their families? Trump says the kids are brought by the coyotes, the border is stronger than ever before, and accuses Biden of building the cages

Biden gets his chance "These 500 kids came with parents. They separated them at the border to provide a disincentive to come over...coyotes didn't bring them over, their parents brought them over!" Strong words. He says it's a shameful blight on America

Trump correctly points out that the Obama administration started enforced separation. Biden doesn't point out that Trump expanded it, he just continues to speak outrage. It's the correct decision, it plays better on the ears

Biden asked directly about the Obama administration's decisions on immigrations and forced separation Biden says, we made a mistake He says, I won't be the vice president this time He promises to restore the DREAM act, to do better

Trump: "He did nothing for 8 years. Except building cages for children" A bold statement, I feel like surely he did something else also. State dinners, perhaps Biden hammers Trump on his changes in the asylum policy.

It's interesting that Trump has decided a softer touch on immigration--blaming Biden for the cages--is the right answer at this junction

We're on to race Biden asked about whether he understands the fear Black people have to feel when they interact with the police He talks about The Talk: how Black children have to learn to act in ways white people never have to think about

And Trump immediately torpedoes it by saying that "with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln" he's done the most for Black people Or maybe that plays well to someone, I don't know. I guess it's possible

Biden denies ever saying "superpredators" Reminds Biden that Trump said the problem with the bill was that there aren't enough people in jail. His words about "marauding gangs" The Central Park 5, of course

Biden comes out as opposed as mandatory minimum sentencing, advocates for rehab instead jail for addicts "But why didn't you do that 4 years ago?" Trump asks I mean, we could ask the same of you for the last 4 years bro

"I ran because of you!" Trump repeats about 20 times bafflingly

Joe says the nation knows who Trump is and who Joe is "The character of the country is on the ballot. Look at us closely." Trump says something about Biden "not being an innocent baby" and brings up The Laptop

"I want to stay on the issue of race," the moderator pleads impotently as Biden says, The Laptop is bullshit and no one believes it, and Trump saying, oh are you saying it's Russiagate again?

Trump asked about that thing where he retweeted someone chanting "White Power" and responds by saying that the first time he saw Black Lives Matter it was them chanting something about pigs in a blanket and frying them like bacon That's the whole response

"I am the least racist person in the room!" Trump declares several times "Abraham Lincoln here is one of the most racist president we've had in modern history" Biden says in my favorite moment of this campaign so far

And then Biden says "poor boys" instead of proud boys but who fucking cares at this point

Trump asks where the Abraham Lincoln thing came from and says he's done the absolute most for black people of anyone Brings up the crime bill again. "Oh God," Biden moans and he can get away with it, it doesn't fucking matter at this point

Biden asked directly about the horrible impact of the crime bill he passed and his role in the War on Drugs Biden says it was a mistake, and that he's trying to change the statutes, especially on cocaine Reiterates the need for rehab instead of punishment. Very strong tone
